Beautiful, hand reared and very friendly. These have been raised free-range in our Permaculture Garden - great for pest control, end of season crop clean-up and fertiliser production. They produce big eggs through late spring/summer, which are great for baking.
They have proven to be very good breeders, and sit well on the nest, though they are typically not good at being mum. Hence the extreeemly cute ducklings being hand reared!
They also have great personalities, and are very entertaining - so provide plenty of opportunity to be distracted from garden tasks!
You will need at least two ducks as they need companionship, plus a source of fresh water and greens such as grass, spent salads and annual weeds. They need a water container that is deep enough for them to clean their nostrils and eyes, but preferably a paddling pool or something bigger - as they love a good splash and like to keep clean.
