FREE Composting Made Easy DIGGING DEEPER Workshops, November 1st AND 8th. MACANDREW BAY. PROUDLY SUPPORTED BY THE DCC.
1.00 - 5.00 pm for BOTH WORKSHOP SESSIONS
WORKSHOP 1: Composting Made Easy - 1st November
Learn how to make ‘Hot’ and ‘Cold’ Compost, use a Bokashi CompostZing System, and make the most of a Worm Farm.
A mix of theory, discussion and great hands-on experience building a large hot compost heap together. We will also cover the set-up and management of a Worm Farm and Bokashi Bucket - smaller, simple systems for dealing with food wastes.
WORKSHOP 2: Digging Deeper into Amazing Compost - 8th November
Participants will return to assess the progress of the hot heap made in the first workshop, and learn the correct procedure for its turning. We will assess ‘finished’ compost samples, and get hands-on as we explore the multiple applications for compost in the garden – including making propagation mixes, side-dressing existing plantings, and making microbe-rich compost extract.
This first composting session covers the standard content of a ‘Composting Made Easy Workshop’ - including a mix of theory and hands-on instruction. The Second ‘Digging Deeper Workshop’ provides greater opportunity for hands-on learning and practical application of skills.
Participants will take home comprehensive notes, expanded understanding and practical skills, PLUS a microbe-rich liquid compost amendment for their garden.
Nature intends to re-use all available resources, not to waste them! Learn some great approaches you can use at home, work, or school, to turn leftover kitchen and garden resources into microbe-rich, healing compost to feed your soil and produce healthy nutritious food for your family.
Turn all your organic wastes into amazing compost!
It all begins with a change of perspective - all those organic materials we have thought of as wastes, are actually great resources for the compost.
Build your soil health
Improve your current composting method or pick up the skills needed to start a new approach at home, work or school. You’ll be rewarded with top quality compost and the ability to build and restore the health of your soil.
